ATR to be opened for tourists from today

Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) near Pollachi will be thrown open for tourists from Tuesday, said ATR Field Director Rajiv K. Srivastava on Monday.

According to Mr.Srivastava, orders to this effect were issued by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Warden, Chennai, based on the resolutions, recommendation and minutes of the Local Advisory Committee of ATR which met here in Coimbatore on November 23.

It may be noted that ATR was one of the three tiger reserves along with Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve and Mudumalai Tiger Reserve that was closed on July 25, following a Supreme Court ban on tourism in core tiger reserve areas.

Now, the tourism activities will resume as per the orders of the Supreme Court and guidelines of the National Tiger Conservation Authority.
