Chamber Show 2012 will give its visitors a bit of shopping and entertainment, and also time with family and friends.
The annual event organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, was inaugurated by the Chamber president, R.R. Balasundaram, at Ramakrishna Kalyana Mandapam on Saturday.
It has 115 stalls, a food court, play area for children, and entertainment programmes. The displays in the stalls are a wide variety, including clothing, consumer durables, kitchen gadgets, gift articles, electronic goods, solar products, two and four wheelers, car accessories, new residential projects, garden equipment, furniture and food items.
The gift article exhibits are many - small souvenirs that can be placed on office tables, corporate gifts, colourful toys, etc. The eco-friendly products include solar water heaters and solar panels.
There are also educative initiatives. Siruthuli has demonstrated in its stall how kitchen and garden waste can be made into manure and used in kitchen gardens. “This will encourage students to go in for kitchen garden,” says Vanitha Mohan, Managing Trustee of Siruthuli.
The huge containers used to transport cargo can be converted into mobile homes and there is a display of this at the show.
All the participants at the event are trade and industry from Coimbatore region. About 25 per cent of the stalls have products that have been manufactured in Coimbatore. The event is on till October 23 and will be open from 10.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Debates, music and dance programmes will be organised from October 21 to 23.
