Kovai Kutralam is one those very few grand waterfalls, that mesmerize everybody with their mighty looks and melodious music. Situated in Siruvani hills, the falls take birth from the lap of Siruvani river. Surrounded by lush green dense forest, variety of flora, fluttering multi-colored birds- this waterfall succeeds in attracting a good number of tourists. Being located in the heart of the forest, it is advised to avoid vising after 5.00 pm.
The distant view of the water smoke painting the sky, the sound of the water falling with great force, the trail entering into the jungle, makes one's heart leap with excitement.
When to go
Usually summers(March- June), with temperature touching 40 degrees, are not highly recommended to visit Coimbatore, but this waterfall, being located in a dense forest welcome the travelers with amazingly cool breeze, when rest of the state is drenching with sweat.
How to reach
Kovai Kutralam is about 37 km from Coimbatore. Move along the Perur road for about 32 Kms. You will encounter a thick green valley. After reaching here, move towards the Survani dam. You will find thick teak plantations on turning left and after travelling 4 Kms you will reach Kovai kutralam Waterfalls.
Very few buses ply to this place. So it advised to either plan the journey and book the bus tickets well in advance, or hire a cab from Coimbatore.
Vellingiri hill temple
Vellingiri hill temple is situated some 40 kilometers away from Coimbatore city. It is purely dedicated to lord Siva and the overall altitude of the hill is 6000 feet.
Siruvani Dam is located at a distance of 37Km West of the city. It is surrounded by thick forest having all sorts of wild animals.
Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple
Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple is a meditative place which is situated in Velliangiri foothills. It is considered as the largest mercury-based live linga in the world.
